IN BORGVIK

Starting from Borgvik in southern Värmland, you will find inviting beaches, exciting places, fantastic crafts and beautiful views. Here we have a varied and inspiring bike package that can also be built on with several nights and other activities.

You sleep in really comfortable beds at Hotel Kungskvarnen, breakfasts and dinners are served in the restaurant, and if weather permitting on the veranda.

DAY 1: SEAVIEW

Arrival at Borgvik at lunchtime. Lunch and Check-in at Kungskvarnen.
You start with a bike ride to Liljedal. There you park the bikes for a couple of hours and hike the "Chicken Trail" and enjoy the mile-wide view of Lake Vänern.
Feel free to stop at beautiful Sävsjön on the way back and take a dip before continuing towards Borgvik. A three-course dinner is served in Kungskvarnen's restaurant.

DAY 2: THE VIKING CENTER

After breakfast, which is hopefully enjoyed on Kungskvanen's sunny veranda, you go west. You make the first stop at Värmlands Vikingacenter and the marina in Nysäter. In Nysäter you will also find a grocery store, garden center and a fantastic curio shop. Then continue towards Långserud. On the way you pass Gillberga berries - self-picking of blueberries.
In Långserud you will find, among other things, Esterscafe and Wikfors mill. When you cycle back, you eventually pass Kungshögen by Högsäter (which is one of three burial mounds along the Byälven river that has been designated as the grave of King Olof Trätälja) Then you take the ferry across the river and gravel roads through the forest back to Borgvik. In the evening, a two-course menu awaits at Kungskvarnen's restaurant, which is guaranteed to satisfy your hunger.
If you want to do a shorter trip, just go directly from the Viking Center to Högsäter.

DAY 3: KLÄSSBOLS LINNEN AND / OR VÄRMSKOG

Today's excursion destination is Klässbols Linneväveri. In northern Borgvik you enter a winding gravel road that leads you to Värmskog. If you have already developed a big appetite, you can stop by the café for a shrimp sandwich. Otherwise you continue directly to Klässbol. In addition to the weaving mill, there is also a showroom and an outlet, so leave some space in the bicycle bags.
The road home goes along a winding gravel road through forests and up hills. When you are almost in Borgvik again, you will find the water ski club at Holmtjärn. In the evening, you sit down again at a table in Kungskvarnen and eat a well-prepared three-course menu made from local ingredients and with a lot of love. (It is also possible to take a slightly shorter day-trip just to Värmskog)

 

DAY 4: BREAKFAST AND NEW ADVENTURES

If you are not in a hurry after breakfast, we suggest a visit to the art gallery (Sliperiet) in Borgvik or that you rent a SUP or kayak  before you leave Borgvik for this time.
